Rest in Light and Power Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela transitioned at the age of 81 on Monday, April 2 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has been described as ‘flawed’ and ‘complex’ which to many who say she was human.

The headline should read, Warrior Queen who believed in the destruction of apartheid has transitioned. Mama Winnie kept the same message all through the struggle. She did not dilute it or accommodate it for those who turned their backs on justice. She sacrificed a lot for so many. Every woman of African descent who has been labeled negatively first and not a positive, knows the stigma that comes with speaking truth.

Thank you Mama Winnie for what you did for the people of South Africa and all people of African descent who believe in justice and equality. May you rest in light and power.
