Black Lives Matter Flag is Flying over Montpelier, Vermont High School

Montpelier, Vermont High School is flying the Black Lives Matter flag for the month of February. This effort was organized by students of color and white students at the high school and they have now gotten the support of the school board, the Principal and the Superintendent.

There are also trainings being held for staff and faculty on multiple issues related to systemic racism. This is not an easy thing to do in mostly white Vermont (the state that elected Bernie Sanders). It’s also a state in which 40% voted for Trump. While many people are rallying in support, threats and intimidation are flying also.
